Mount Lawley, Menora and Inglewood were developed, as what were later called, Garden Suburbs.

At the beginning of the 2000s, the community became increasingly concerned that these suburbs were losing their character. Over several  years,  draft policies were developed with the aim of retaining the character of the area. Finally in 2008, the Mount Lawley, Inglewood and Menora Heritage Protection Area was created with an associated policy - the Character Retention Guidelines.

Since their establishment, the heritage areas have become increasingly distinct from surrounding areas. Retaining the character has also retained the green, open, friendly and safe feel of these garden suburbs. This has been recognised by the City of Stirling which has included in its aims for LPS4, “To enhance and conserve the cultural heritage significance and character within designated heritage areas.”

The three heritage areas in the City of Stirling are Mount Lawley, Menora and Inglewood.  However, for simplicity, this web page is devoted to Mount Lawley. We are developing similar links for Inglewood and Menora.
